43:03.2

My time in my SECOND 5K in as many months.

The Frigid 5K.

My only goal?  Beat 47:04.7 the time of my first 5K.

Done.

It rained.  The entire time.

I was drenched but oh so happy!

(Me on Left - Sue on Right)

By the end of the day, the rain turned into a very wet snow that dropped six inches by the end of the night and gave my husband an opportunity to experience nature outside while I experienced the nature of my 4 and 2 year old grandbabies inside.   I think we were both happy with our choices.

I have been playing a lot of racquetball both casually with friends and competitively with my husband so I was certain that I would have a much easier time and would be able to run more but I was wrong.  My lung capacity is not anywhere close to what it should be.   I have to add some aerobic exercise to my anaerobic racquetball so I can be prepared for next months.  I don’t know which race yet, I just know I want to be at or under the 40 minute mark.

Another fun fact, I went to my first CIRCUIT TRAINING with a personal trainer who I have decided to refer to as hot Zach when not in his immediate hearing zone.  Of course when it was all over I wanted to die.  I still wanted to die as I drove home.  And as soon as I got home.  And an hour later.  Well, you get the idea.  This is NOT for the faint of heart.  I am determined.  I will be going every Monday and Friday.  And hey, I only have to get up at 4:30.

A.M.

Not kidding.

197.4

My weight is up slightly.  I’ve followed my goals but I have not seen the amazing weight loss that I imagined would accompany the goals I set for myself and it is frustrating.  Intellectually I know I am doing what is best for my body but emotionally I just want to bake those butterscotch brownies or pumpkin cookies with browned butter frosting and indulge.  Instead, I tell myself, No, you have goals you want to achieve.  So then the bargaining with myself begins.   Well, only ONE cookie won’t hurt anything.  I mean it’s just one – right?  No, I tell myself, it won’t be just one.  I have to have an all or nothing approach to my eating because if I give in, I might as well give up.  I can’t seem to do much in moderation.  So, I am feeling frustrated.  I want my cookie but I want results right now too.  But then I tell myself, No, you have to remember the ONE factor.  One day.  One meal.  One minute at a time.  Then I tell myself, effff you.  Then I have to tell myself, POTTY MOUTH!!  No, that’s just your emotions talking.  Fine!  I say.  FINE!  I’ll go buy myself a pair of shoes instead.  At least I know I can find those to fit me. Okay so I'm not all sunshine and roses - welcome to the real me.  I have bad days.  I have off days.  I have I don't give a flying eff days.  Today, I'm having a down day.  It could be because of the rain, it could be because of the weight gain, it could be because I really want a cookie.  But really, I think it is just because.  Do you love me anyway?

197.2

I have been slammed lately and have no time to blog or read - so I'm sorry I have not been a better support - I will keep trying.  As you can see from my chart, I had a night where I gained 1.8 pounds.  Friday sucked.  I had a meeting all day so we ordered from Jason's Deli.  I ordered a salad and used only half the dressing.  Good work I said to my self.  That night we took the babies to see Beauty and the Beast 3D and had some popcorn.  I thought I looked up the calories and knew what I was getting into.  Nope as evidenced by my tracking the calories that night.  I was sick.  The next morning my weight was down but that was to be short lived.  Saturday night, after wrangling the babies all day long and cleaning and researching/booking a cruise (more on that later), I was exhausted so when hubby went to the store for me I laughingly said grab some Moscato.  He did.  I partook.  2.5 helpings.  Add that to the 15 green olives I had and it just spelled disaster for the next morning.  1.8 pounds up.  I couldn't believe it.  It has taken me Sunday and Monday to recover from that slip up.  So long to get it off and so quick to get back on.  I hate that.

Anyway, as you can see - I didn't do too bad.  I had to back off the situps because it felt like something inside was tearing - but after two days I was fine again.  Weekends are horrible for remembering my medicine but all in all I think I'm doing okay.  I am watching labels and trying to stay away from anything with blatant sugar like a candy bar or fudge but I am not being a purist and realize sugar is in a lot of things and just trying to be careful.  I just dinged myself on Sugar on Saturday because of the Moscato.  I will not make that mistake again.  So, all in all, I lost 2.2 pounds for the 2nd week.

Thanks again for your support.

199.4

I did it! I did it!  I did it!

I'm under the 200 mark.

And if feels GREAT!!!!

I would have to say that week one was a success!

As you can see from my chart, for the majority of time, I have stayed on target with my goals:

I don't have headaches anymore, I'm losing weight, and I'm not craving food like I use to - YAY!!  In fact, the only hard moment was on Sunday when I made the grand babies hot biscuits with butter and jam.  It was hard to not want to put that buttery goodness in my mouth.  But then, I was fine.  Sunday was an off day anyway because I was fasting for religious purposes and didn't get the calories and subsequently didn't have the energy.  Yesterday tired hit me hard and I am trying to work through that but I am not giving up.

So, random question, am I a freak because I love watching those train wrecks on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?  It has become my new obsession.  (Don't worry, Daniel Craig, you'll always be number one!

One other house keeping thing ... I don't have as much time as I use to ... but I'm here and going strong.  I will write and read and comment when I can ... If I'm not with you in writing, I'm with you in spirit!!!  I have NOT gone into hiding.

202.0

Record loss to date since starting this in November.  Biggest jump obviously has been since starting hard core on Tuesday.  But, headaches are GONE from the caffeine withdrawal which is the greatest feeling in the world.  I've exercised, eaten right, done all that I said I would and .... I'm exhausted!  I know I should feel elated but this is hard work (it was much easier to put the weight on).  My girlfriend Jenny told me is the bad toxins leaving my body and I will be sluggish for a few more days than I should see improvement, so that is the next thing I am looking forward to.  I have the support of my family and my daughter asks me every night how my day was and then asks, "How are you going to make tomorrow your bitch?"  I know inappropriate language but the sentiment is dead on.  How am I going to own today?  It is a good feeling to know I've accomplished the goals I've set for myself.

The other day I read the post by Maren where she took pictures of herself and posted them.  We are always more critical of ourselves but I think she is absolutely beautiful.  It inspired me to take pictures of myself that very night.  You will notice they are not posted because I do not have the courage to show them to anyone right now and maybe never.  BUT.  It was an eye opener.  I've not seen me that way and it was VERY difficult to look.  I had a hard time coming to work the next day because I was embarrassed by how I look.  I mean I just couldn't believe I actually look like this.  Every time I pass a mirror I just have to say to myself, "this is the last time you will look like this!!"  Frankly, that is what is giving me the motivation right now.  I don't want to look like this anymore.  Each day that I succeed is one day farther from that picture.  I can't wait to look like Christine.  I can't wait until the day I say ... THIS IS IT!

Thanks for your encouragement.  Thanks for your posts.  Thank you for your comments.

He's Hookin, He's Hookin, He's Hookin ....
(I love this Chris ... thanks for posting it!!!)

204.8. Measurements #2

I begged, pleaded, cajoled, and cried all to no avail.  It is what it is.  My starting point for 2012.  I did measure to start the new year and found that even though my weight, interestingly enough, was the same today as it was when I measured last, I have lost 4 inches from various places.  Actually, if I did lose in a spot it was a consistent ½ inch.   Well, see for yourself.  Here are my results:

Onto the Challenge:
Today is my day one - and so far so good.  This chart is a way for me to keep track every day of what my goals are and will check them off when completed.  The one not on here is running the 5k which is Jan 21st.

Recap of my goals:
Flour - None.
Sugar - None (except natural in fruits).  Meaning no aspartame either meaning no pop.  See water.
Water - 8 cups.
7:00 pm - don't eat after 7.
Charting - Chart foods eaten in Live Strong
Calories - stay under 1600 daily.
Situps - do 44 every day (one for every year I am alive)
Exercise - in some form.  IN my case it will be Racquetball, treadmill, elliptical, walking, or running.
Prayer - commune with a higher power.
Reading - something inspirational.
Meds - reminder to take my medications.
Blog - twice a week
Support - Read/comment on others.

I have to say my biggest fear today, as this moment, is the headache from no caffeine.  I'm also worried about being too busy to plan meals.

Here we go!!!
